Weekend Update: Farmville Wedding & Sweet Briar Engagement Sessions

Okay, I've pulled out my fall candles and my house is smelling like pumpkin pie, cinnamon, and crisp air. Now, can the weather just finally decide to catch up and cool off a little bit.  Just a little bit- I'm not inviting winter to come anytime soon- or ever really! ;) I know I'm not the only one anxiously awaiting for Autumn- layers, boots, and hot coffee! But, these amazing late summer weekends have brought the most amazing, fun weddings and engagement sessions! 

This weekend was such an honor. I joined Wilson & Whitney for their backyard wedding in Farmville and left with my heart so full of joy and excitement for these two! Through the wedding planning process, Whit and I quickly became friends, which always brings so much more to the wedding for me! It's so fun celebrating with the couple and cheering them on from behind the camera!! I cannot wait to share more from their wedding, but am so excited to share a few sneak peeks from their gorgeous day!! 

Sunday, Michael and I knocked out some small house projects that have been looming over for what seems like forever. It feels so good to complete some things on our forever long house to-do list! And then on Sunday afternoon, I met up with AJ & Kimberly at Sweet Briar College for their engagement session! We were ducking some storms in the area, but yay the weather cleared and it was a fantastic session! These two were seriously a blast to be around- I can't wait for their Trivium Estate wedding next Fall!!

Small, Intimate Church Wedding in Lynchburg, Virginia || Charlottesville and Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

There's something so special about small, intimate weddings.  I love being a part of these sweet moments where a couple is surrounded by their very closest family and friends who are all so thrilled for them to be getting married!! 

Kyle & Cara had a beautiful church wedding at Providence United Methodist Church and it was truly magical.  Kyle & Cara were probably the most laid-back, un-stressed out couple I've ever had.  Cara perfectly planned out everything about this day- she had nothing to stress out about.  She even made her own wedding cake!  I love this couple- they are so light-hearted, fun, and Kyle is always cracking jokes.  All throughout their portrait time, Kyle would say something and have me and Cara both laughing non-stop! I am so excited to share photos from their wedding day!

Happy Birthday Michael || Central Virginia Wedding Photographer

A special Saturday blog post to celebrate Michael- today is his birthday!! I'll avoid calling you out with how old you're turning and just make a point that you're getting old! ;) It seems like just yesterday we were practically babies and getting married.. and look at us now! We have both grown so much over the last 8+ years, it makes me so excited to see what else is to come! 

Really, I just want to brag on Michael and what better excuse than a birthday post! This guy is the best Dad I could ever image, seeing him with Emmie is the best thing ever! He is so loving and encouraging to her- and teaches her so much! Sometimes good, sometimes not so good! ha! 

Michael is so supportive of me and my business. He loves and recognizes my dreams and works with me to accomplish those goals! Thank you for being my best friend and constant support.  For cooking dinners when I don't want to (ummm, like every day) and doing the dishes. Thank you for working so tirelessly to improve our future and accomplish our goals.  For being my second shooter and assistant on wedding days- you know I love bossing you around! 

I am SO thankful for you Michael! Enjoy your Birthday weekend- relax and let's celebrate!! I love life with you and can't wait to see what this next year brings!! Happy Birthday!

Being Productive in busy season || Charlottesville and Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

It's officially busy season here in Central Virginia and I love it! Every single weekend I'm doing what I absolutely love and getting to celebrate with amazing couples! But, along with busy season means having A LOT more things to do, but less time to do it! Even when I'm shooting multiple weddings in a weekend, family sessions on the weekdays, I still want to maintain my client experience and produce images as soon as possible! 

The number one adjustment I've made this year to ensure that items on my to-do list are getting done, is scheduling an "Office Day" for myself.  And yes, I actually write it in my planner, and then put in my tasks in a block scheduling format on my iCalendar.  I refuse to do ANYTHING else on my Office Day other than be in my office. I won't volunteer in Emmie's classroom, meet anyone for lunch, schedule client meetings, or photo sessions on this day.  It is a day that I fully dedicate to tackling my workflow for the day.  If I have a double-header weekend where I'm shooting two weddings, I will make sure to block of, you guessed it, two office days.  

It's a simple solution that has helped me make huge strides in tackling my to-do list and staying productive during my busiest season! What simple changes have you made that have shown huge improvement?

Charlottesville, VA Wedding Photographer || Dannie & Evan's Keswick Vineyard Wedding

I don't think I've ever cried throughout the entire toasts portion of a wedding, but after Evan & Dannie's wedding, I can cross that off my bucket list. These two had so many friends and family around supporting them, and hearing about their unique love story from their best friends was so special.  They had a giant bridal party- you could just tell these two had SO many people there that love and support them! 

Evan & Dannie's wedding day was absolute perfection.  The perfect weather, the most gorgeous venue, and the cutest couple ever! Keswick Vineyards is seriously so stunning. There was a photo-op at every single corner! Their ceremony was stunning, with the fountain and the vineyard as the backdrop! We all headed out right at sunset and had THE most perfect lighting for romantic portraits! We walked throughout the stunning vineyard, and the property before joining their guests for one of the most fun reception parties ever! 

So thankful for all of the fantastic vendors that Dannie choose for her wedding day! This day was absolutely GORGEOUS thanks to all of your hard work!
