I looooooooove doing Bridal Portrait Sessions! It is SO much fun getting the Bride all dressed up- without the pressure of the wedding day timeline and the hustle and bustle of friends & family & wedding guests! Plus- who doesn't want another day to wear their beautiful wedding gown! You pay so much money for THE perfect dress, wear it again! Plus, most of my brides end up changing something- it could be as simple as earrings, or lip color- or even as big as changing their hair style! 

Hailey and I got together a few weeks ago for her Bridal Portraits out at the beautiful Trivium Estates in Forest, Virginia! I've been so excited to share these images with you guys! Bailey is so beautiful and makes such a stunning Bride!! And this session is a PERFECT example of how we can still make it work- even in the rain! As soon as we walked outside it started POURING- so we got some photos inside, and on the porch at the Trivium.  The rain cleared just in time for sunset- and we got these AMAZING glowy photos as well!

Eeeek! I love this family session! Dan & Mariah were visiting family for the weekend- and lucky for me we were able to head out for some photos of their beautiful family!  They are so cute- I swear it's IMPOSSIBLE to take a bad picture of this family!!  

We headed down to Percival's Island in downtown Lynchburg and had such a blast! The light was PERFECT- and I am seriously obsessed with their outfit choices! I LOVE mixing and matching patterns- and they did such an excellent job of not 'matching' but choosing colors within the patterns that go well together!

saying a final goodbye to our sweet pup: a personal post

If you've noticed it's been a bit quiet around here this week, it's true.  We sadly had to put our sweet dog, Linus, down last week.  He had been pretty sick for a while, but it is still so heart breaking.  Michael got Linus as a small little pup.  I typically try to keep things lighthearted and fun around here, so forgive me, but I just wanted to share. 

After making the appointment with the vet, we decided to make sure we had one last great night with him- something we could always talk about with Emmie, so we headed to one of our favorite local parks, Peaksview Park, in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Our sweet friend, Miranda, came with us and we enjoyed a nice walk, and even got Linus in the water- one of his very favorite things to do.  

Linus was the biggest pain in the butt, but also the sweetest dog ever.  We truly loved him and have some of the best memories with him over the last 8 years! 

I truly had no idea how difficult this would be- we are seriously missing a piece of our family.  So thankful for the time we had with him- even when he was chewing up my furniture and digging through our basement door (a story for another day! ha).

Planning Your Wedding: Building your Timeline

I'm back with Part II of my Planning your Wedding to talk about Building your Timeline! This time, to chat about the timeline WITHOUT a first look! (You can read all about creating a timeline with a first look here!) 

I love helping my brides create a timeline that will flow with their special day, without causing extra stress or forgetting something really important! I always meet with my brides a few times before their wedding day and we build a timeline over the course of their engagement through to their wedding day! It is so important to me that my brides & grooms ENJOY their big day and don't feel stressed out or rushed at all! 

Like I mentioned in the last post, it is important to start planning your timeline by looking over the non-negotiable moments, such as when you are allowed to arrive at your venue, what time your ceremony is planned for, and what time you and all of your guests have to be out of the venue.  

Without doing a first look, I will typically try to get photos of the bride individually, her and her bridesmaids, and a few of the bride with her immediate family members- like siblings, and parents, etc.  I will also do this with the groom- anything that we can get before the ceremony, will help us save time! 

If we know these general guidelines, we write this out: 

1:00 Arrive at venue

4:00 Ceremony Begins

4:30 Ceremony Ends/ Cocktail Hour Begins

10:00 Send-off 

Then we add the remaining details! I always build in about 20-30 minutes for touch-ups, water, and so their early guests don't see them.  

2:00 Arrive at venue / Getting Ready Photos / Details, etc. 

4:00 Ceremony Begins

4:30 Extended Formal Photos

5:00 Entire Bridal Party Photos 

5:30 Bride & Groom Photos 

6:00 Reception Begins 

8:15 Bride & Groom Sunset Photos 

10:00 Send-off

I saw an ad today for 'back-to-school' and wanted to cry! we cannot be in the last week of july yet?! please tell me our summer isn't almost over?! While I do love a good cozy blanket, a cup of hot coffee, and amazing soups for dinner every night, I am really loving this summer and not wanting it to be over! 

Plus, I am LOVING all these fun couples that this summer is bringing!! John & Loran are getting married in a few short weeks, and we had so much fun getting to know each other and chat all about their wedding day! They are going to be getting married at the Historic Avenel in Bedford, Virginia and I am SO excited for their wedding day!!
