John & Victoria's backyard wedding || Lynchburg Wedding Photographer

THIS COUPLE! I had the best time at this gorgeous wedding! I shot Victoria's cousin's wedding in February, so it was like a mini-family reunion seeing everyone again!  John & Victoria decided to get married at a family member's home- it's seriously such a gorgeous spot and was the perfect backdrop for their wedding! They were both super laid back, and didn't stress about the pop-up thunderstorms at all! We took some photos out of the front porch, in the garage, and even some in the rain! They are a true testament that some rain does not have to ruin your wedding day! 

These two are just SO in love and it totally shows! They are the best poses, constantly changing up their facial expressions, snuggling up, and interacting with each other! They seriously made my job SO easy and choosing photos for their blog post was SO DIFFICULT!!

Lynchburg, Virginia Photographer: Tony & Cole Pregnancy Announcement

Oh I had so much fun getting these top secret photos of Tony & Cole! She was wanting to announce her big pregnancy news to her friends & family and a photoshoot to spread the word was the perfect thing! We headed out to Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia- the same place they had their engagement photos taken! 

SO excited to share these photos with you guys- and even more so for Tony & Cole as they start this amazing new phase!!

Winchester, VA Photographer: Dave & Rachael's Maternity Session

I cannot think of a higher honor than having a former bride ask me to do her maternity photos!! I was so ecstatic when I found out that Rachael was pregnant, and even more so when she asked me to take her maternity photos!! Then, her sister contacted me and offered to pay for her session as her baby shower present! Best sister ever, huh!?! 

It worked out perfectly- I was in Winchester for a wedding, and since Rachael is currently living in the DC area, she met me there! Her Uncle lives out in that area, and knew the perfect little mill area- it was such an amazing location, and the awesome Fall colors just made it magical! <3 Plus, Dave & Rachael just have so much fun together, and we laughed our way through the ENTIRE session!! 

Dave & Rach- it was SO awesome to see you guys again and catch up! I am so unbelievably excited for you guys and cannot wait to snuggle that sweet baby boy!!! Thank you so much for the honor of capturing your most important memories in life!! Let's please get together again SOON!!

lynchburg, virginia wedding photographer: Brett & Hailey's Trivium Wedding

With all this traveling lately, staying in the Lynchburg & Forest area lately was such a treat! It's no surprise that I love shooting weddings at The Trivium Estates.  Heidi & her staff are SO organized and the hardest workers you will ever meet!

Hailey & Brett's wedding day was SO beautiful! The perfect Fall temps- they chose to get married at the Pergola outside and it seriously was stunning! I loved her beautiful blooms- the oranges and reds were perfect for this time of year!  

Hailey & Brett chose to do a 'no peek' right before the ceremony! I love these moments- the anticipation and excitement is at it's HIGHEST!! 

The Trivium Estate's ballroom always looks amazing!

Hailey & Brett did a bubble exit- it turned out so well and was so much FUN! Baileys laughs and joy shows that!! ;)

Planning Your Wedding: Building your Timeline

I'm back with Part II of my Planning your Wedding to talk about Building your Timeline! This time, to chat about the timeline WITHOUT a first look! (You can read all about creating a timeline with a first look here!) 

I love helping my brides create a timeline that will flow with their special day, without causing extra stress or forgetting something really important! I always meet with my brides a few times before their wedding day and we build a timeline over the course of their engagement through to their wedding day! It is so important to me that my brides & grooms ENJOY their big day and don't feel stressed out or rushed at all! 

Like I mentioned in the last post, it is important to start planning your timeline by looking over the non-negotiable moments, such as when you are allowed to arrive at your venue, what time your ceremony is planned for, and what time you and all of your guests have to be out of the venue.  

Without doing a first look, I will typically try to get photos of the bride individually, her and her bridesmaids, and a few of the bride with her immediate family members- like siblings, and parents, etc.  I will also do this with the groom- anything that we can get before the ceremony, will help us save time! 

If we know these general guidelines, we write this out: 

1:00 Arrive at venue

4:00 Ceremony Begins

4:30 Ceremony Ends/ Cocktail Hour Begins

10:00 Send-off 

Then we add the remaining details! I always build in about 20-30 minutes for touch-ups, water, and so their early guests don't see them.  

2:00 Arrive at venue / Getting Ready Photos / Details, etc. 

4:00 Ceremony Begins

4:30 Extended Formal Photos

5:00 Entire Bridal Party Photos 

5:30 Bride & Groom Photos 

6:00 Reception Begins 

8:15 Bride & Groom Sunset Photos 

10:00 Send-off
