Sunset Beach, North Carolina Family Portrait Session

Sunset Beach, North Carolina is one of our favorite places to unwind and vacation, but when I get to do photos out there, I will gladly take on a session or two while on vacation! I LOVE the beach and photos by the beach just have even more special memories attached to them! Knowing that every time anyone in the family sees these photos they will remember the laughs, the fun on the beach, the struggle to pack up what seems like the entire world to get those kids on the beach, the late night chats, and the time spent with their family, just adds a whole different approach to the photos! 

When Caitlin first emailed me, it seemed like fate that we were both going to be on vacation there at the same time! I was so excited! After an afternoon of thunderstorms, it was a beyond gorgeous evening- the heat was gone, and the sky was just gorgeous! I had such a blast with this amazing family!

Our Sunset Beach, North Carolina Vacation

Sunset Beach is a sleepy little beach town in southern North Carolina and it holds such a special place in our hearts. It was our first vacation location as a family- I still remember bringing Emmie- she was just learning how to crawl, and we had the best time. We've tried to make it back down there every year since, so we were both so excited when we were able to make it happen again this year! This year, my side of the family came along with us! 

It's true- bringing a little baby on vacation is challenging- and even more so challenging heading to the hot beach, but it's so worth it! We prepared for the heat with a portable fan, a beach tent, and cooling towels, sunscreen, hats, and so much more! Our car was packed to the brim, and amazing memories were made! 

Our last night out, I finally pulled my camera out and we took some family photos on the beach. Sully was exhausted and wasn't in his typical cheery mood, but we made it work & I'm so thankful we did!

Nags Head Family Photography || Central VA Wedding Photographer

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that my youngest nephew, Heston is THIS BIG.  He is the sweetest little guy and seriously such a good baby!!  He did fantastic with the schedule changes, sleeping in a house with more than 20 people running around, and all the extra kisses from his Aunt Ashley! 

One night we walked around on the beach and got some photos of this cutie pie!! I was obsessed- he's SO cute!!

Our Vacation to the Outer Banks! || Central Virginia Photographer

Oh yes, this it was true chaos, 21 people in one house, but it was so much fun! This is the first vacation I've taken with Michael's family, and goodness, Emerson had the best time. She played on the beach, swam in the pool non-stop, learned all about Mario, and had way too much sugar! We headed out to the Outer Banks for a week with everyone, shared meals, stories, and on the last night we headed out on the beach and got some photos in our vacation shirts! So fun! 

And of course, I got some pictures of Emerson. I cannot believe how big she is, and she totally was striking a pose and doing her best fake laugh for the camera.  Daughter of a photographer there! Haha!

The beaches of the Outer Banks to the mountains of Central Virginia: Our Weekend Update

It's after 11am, and I'm just sitting down to write this blog! I think that perfectly explains my Monday morning! I'm doing a bit of multi-tasking today as Emerson is out of school for the week, and I'm still playing catch-up! Nothing says welcome back from vacation to the mountain of laundry, floors to be mopped, and suitcases to be unpacked! 

So, instead of doing all the back-to-work chores, I couldn't wait to share some images from this weekend We had a beautiful weekend, with some time at The Outer Banks with family, to Jake & Casey's mountain view wedding in Vinton, Virginia! 

There are so many more images to come later this week- including some stunning bridal portraits of Casey!! Hooray!!
